Year One Crowdfunding
We launched our crowdfunding campaign in August 2025, and in our first year, it raised $530,000, the majority from ~5,450 small donors like you who contributed to help preserve access to clear, accurate, science-reviewed climate information. Now that we're on to year two, we've reset our goal bar and hope to raise $300,000.
About Climate.us
Climate.us has launched the full version of its new independent, nonprofit climate information website, creating a public-backed home for trusted climate science at a time when access to federal climate resources has become increasingly vulnerable to disruption.
Built by members of the team behind Climate.gov—the award-winning government website frozen and hidden last year under pressure from political appointees—Climate.us is designed to keep climate information accurate, accessible, scientifically rigorous, and useful for the people who rely on it, including educators, students, journalists, scientists, community leaders, local and state decision-makers, and members of the public.

Our story
For more than a decade, NOAA’s Climate.gov website was among the U.S. government’s most important platforms for climate information for the public. At the start of 2025, if someone in the U.S. googled “climate,” Climate.gov was the top result. It served 15+ million visitors in 2024 and had more than half a million social media followers. Our reach was growing every year.
In the first half of 2025, Trump administration officials at NOAA terminated Climate.gov’s full-time federal and contractor staff, ordered removal of content, and redirected the home page to a page under more direct control of political appointees. With Climate.gov unable to continue its operations, the public has lost a trusted source of climate information. Former Climate.gov staff plans to continue the site's mission and expand its scope with Climate.us, a new online platform that will carry on the legacy of Climate.gov.
A new home outside the federal domain will allow the team to rescue Climate.gov and other federal assets, including the Fifth National Climate Assessment. It will unleash new opportunities for innovation, collaboration, and impact. The Climate.gov team has long excelled at delivering elegant content and interface designs that make it easy for the public, journalists, educators, and students to learn about climate. With full funding, Climate.us will become a next-generation platform that expands to serve new audiences—climate service providers, community planners, app developers, etc.—seeking data and tools for analysis and decision-making.
Climate.us is an independent nonprofit entity hosted and managed by Multiplier, a 501(c)(3) organization. An advisory panel with members representing target audiences and stakeholders will guide the site’s scope of contents and utility; science and data experts will help content teams ensure information is based on the best available science.
The transition of Climate.gov into Climate.us is a bold, forward-thinking strategy that will safeguard public access to vital, trusted climate data and services. We invite funders, experts, educators, organizations, universities, and civic leaders to join us in seizing a generational opportunity:
